PROSTA-CHECK® is a specific, rapid immunodiagnostic test for the detection of prostate antigen (PSA). The level of PSA in the blood allows you to estimate the physiological state of the prostate. A value higher than normal ( 4 ng/mL) indicates prostatic hypertrophy.
The PSA test should be performed at least once a year in men over 50 years of age or in men with a family history of prostate problems. In the case of prostate problems, early screening allows treatment to be started and the possibility of improvement increased. The test is also performed as part of prostate/prostate cancer prevention.

The PSA test is a blood test used primarily to screen for prostate cancer.
The test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. PSA is a protein produced by both cancerous and noncancerous tissue in the prostate, a small gland that sits below the bladder in males.
PSA is mostly found in semen, which also is produced in the prostate. Small amounts of PSA ordinarily circulate in the blood.
